ABOUT THE IAAD

The IAAD was set up in 1998 with the objective of raising the standard of aesthetic dentistry in the island of Ireland.

Since then we have hosted some of the most renowned international speakers in dentistry at our annual conferences including Gerry Chiche, Prof Carlo Marinella, Tidu Mankoo, Walter DeVoto, Francesca Vailati, Finlay and many others. We are proud of the quality of teaching we have experienced at our conferences, and the thinking and conversation this has sparked among our delegates.

We host regular study clubs with both case presentations from our members and lectures from invited speakers including Ian Buckle, Tidu Mankoo, Jason Smithson and Guido Fichera.

One of the most important aspects of our membership and events is the networking and subsequent friendships and support that develop.  Dentistry can we a lonely career if we allow it to be. The IAAD strongly believe in the professional development and support we can gain from each other in a time when Dentistry is becoming more challenging than ever. In an era of Zoom and online CPD, the  the friendships built through face to face events is invaluable.

TONY AHERNE

FOUNDING CHAIRMAN

Tony specialised in Implant & Aesthetic Dentistry for over 25 years. He is a Former secretary treasurer of the European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and continues to be an active member.

A founder of the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry. Lectures and publishes extensively at an international level.

Other founding members include Tiernan O’Brian,Gerry Cleary, Paddy Crotty and Martin Houlahan.
